Karen Costa, Assistant Director of Enrollment Services at MWCC, leaves little time for lounging around with her busy schedule. Costa, 30, is a wife, a mother of one, a full-time employee where she teaches one of the First Year Experience courses (FYE), and a full-time student studying to obtain her Doctorate in Education.
In a recent interview, Costa said, "I want to finish my education before my son gets too old and it becomes too difficult."
When asked what she would like to do after obtaining her Doctorate, Costa said, "I hope to teach at a higher level, maybe write or do research, as well as continue my work at MWCC."
Costa maintains a full schedule but allows time to spend with her husband and 1 year old Freddie as well as some leisure activities. When asked if there was something that she loved to do, either at work or outside of work, Costa said, "I love yoga." Costa currently attends yoga classes at the Fitness and Wellness Center on the Gardner campus.
"Yoga keeps me sane and the gym is a nice facility and it's really conveniently located," said Costa.
Costa said that former swim team coaches inspired her to begin yoga classes, as well as Steve Washkevich, Director of the Fitness and Wellness Center, when he spoke at a seminar on campus.
Costa also loves the television series "LOST." "I don't understand it, but I have to watch, even though I have no idea what's going on," she said. "If I don't watch (this season), it's like wasting 5 years of investment in the show."
Costa plans to continue with her busy schedule well into the future.
